Procedure for International Students

1. Interested students should apply to the ELS Language Centers by mailing in a completed application form or by submitting the electronic application available at our Web site at www.elscanada.com. In order to receive a brochure and application form; please contact our Director of Admissions. Students should apply at least 6 weeks prior to the beginning of their studies so that there is enough time to process their visas. 2. Upon receipt of a completed application form, ELS Language Centers will send a confirmation letter and an invoice detailing the total costs of the selected program and the minimum payment required to secure your space at the Center. Instructions on how to remit payment will also be included. ELS Language Centers will send students detailed instructions on how to apply for a visa at the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate. Students can study for a maximum of 6 months with a Visitor visa. Students studying for more than 6 months must apply for Student Authorization prior to arrival in Canada. An Airport Pick Up and Drop Off service is available for the price of CDN $75.00. Students will be met at the airport by a staff member of the Homestay Company and driven directly to meet their Homestay families. On their first day of each session, new students should arrive at the Center at 8:30 a.m. They should bring their passport, a copy of their payment invoice, and a small, passport-size photo for their ELS Language Centers' student ID card. New students are also given a Level Placement Test to determine their English ability. The test is 90 minutes long and includes listening, grammar, conversation, reading, and writing skills. In the afternoon, students are given a complete tour of ELS Language Centers and the surrounding downtown area (including banks, post offices, bus stops, restaurants, and shopping centers).
